They have got fishing on mainstream TV.which is no mean feat. I wish some of the anglers who come to my fishery had bothered to watch a few of them before they turn up and fish like idiots. Their (free) DVD’s attempt to educate carp anglers and do it pretty well. Korda fully funded the ‘Fish welfare group’ for a number of years before the Angling Trust was set up. They have rescued numbers of failing fisheries and now they are successful, desirable waters. Korda have put lots of money into protecting fisheries thru’ their ‘Embyro’ programme. Then everybody else just copies their ideas. They may be expensive but (for example) they sold the first decent spods and marker floats - prior to that you had to make your own or buy from a small private producer ( eg John Bryn spods). They sell decent products that work and nobody is forcing you to buy them. They have popularised carp fishing and put ‘bums on seats’ on a lot of fisheries. Im not sure why-maybe it is because they are successful. True gentlemen.Ĭlick to expand. It seems to be a national pastime to slag off Korda in general and Danny and Ali in particular. I liked The compleat angler with Geoffrey Palmer and the other guy too. It is a huge encyclopaedia of course fishing.Īgree 100% about Paul Young by the way fox.

I eventually realised that I learn far more by trial and error than I ever do from videos as long as I get out fishing at least once or twice a week. They are both entertaining and informative in my view. I love Matt Hayes and Mick Brown who are clearly down to earth and also genuine buddies.

His programs were great but I just found the man really irritating.

There are plenty of people who make course fishing programs or videos that I also find irritating. I don’t watch television and find most famous people shallow and up their own bottoms. Surely it’s time to make a TV series for coarse anglers. If there are so many specimen carp anglers where are all the lakes? There are at least ten commercial fisheries for every one carp lake in the midlands and north of England. Surely the specimen carp thing has been done to death on the telly by now.īring back Matt Hayes and Mick Brown with another Great Rod Race. I was dismayed to read that he will be making a new TV series with his new company.

Having said that I do use a limited number of Guru products so I guess I’m as guilty as anyone at promoting the pint sized halfwit. I would rather eat my own poo than promote the Korda brand. I don’t do much carp angling but when I do I use cheap unbranded tackle. There has never been such an irritating bunch in all of humanity. Thank you for your commitment to "coaching the coaches"!
